Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve been in business for 7 years, and have shot hundreds of weddings. Here’s a sampling of some common questions:

"How long will it take to finish my wedding video?"

Post-production typically lasts between 4 and 6 months, but it all depends on how busy we are. Why so long? Well, each piece is as unique as you are, and each is cut by hand. We keep our prices low which keeps our schedule full. Rush Service is available.

"I'm only getting married once - I don't want to see a camera crew at my wedding!"
We understand your concern. Our videographers work with only a hand-held camera (tripod use for the ceremony is strongly suggested) and our professional demeanor and attire will help us blend into the background. We will contact the location managers and/or coordinator to determine the least intrusive camera placement and production techniques.

“What type of equipment do you use?”
Careful - you don’t want to unleash our inner-geek. Once we get started talking about gear, it’s hard to stop! We use broadcast-quality SD and HD cameras, capable of shooting multiple frame rates and resolutions. For most weddings, we opt for camera equipment that is relatively small and less intrusive than larger cameras. (No shoulder mounted behemoths!) For post-production, we’re primarily Apple-based, utilizing the full compliment of Final Cut Studio, as well as other graphics and motion-graphics applications.

"What kind of lighting do you use?"
This is a very popular question. We’ve experimented with many types of on-camera lighting, in various atmospheres. We strongly prefer to use only ambient lighting to shoot your event. Why? Well, video lighting can be very intrusive, and we certainly do not want to stand out at your event! If on-camera lighting is required, we use less-obtrusive LED lighting, with or without gel filters.

"What about guest interviews?"
Whether or not you would like us to interview your guests is completely up to you. We will be happy to accommodate any special requests you may have. If you’d like them, please let us know in advance!

"Do I have to feed your crew?"
While working an 8-12 hour day, our videographers can get pretty hungry. Although a meal is greatly appreciated, it is not necessary. Keep in mind: If a meal is not provided, the camera-operator may have to leave your event to eat, and possibly miss something!

"What if I want to have the DVD re-edited?"
While frequent flyer productions strives to create a unique and special experience for each customer, we understand that you may have a different directorial and/or editorial vision of your wedding video. During consultation, we will do our best to help you convey exactly what you would like to see in your finished product. However, film-making and editing are very subjective mediums. While the vast majority of our clients are 100% satisfied with our work, re-editing options are available, at an additional charge. And just so you know, we’ve NEVER had a wedding client who was dissatisfied with the content of their video...

"My Uncle Edgar has offered to videotape the wedding for free. Why should I hire you?"
You're only getting married once, right? While your Uncle Edgar may have a great video camera and some decent editing software, remember: He is a guest at your wedding, and his focus may be the buffet and open bar! We have the experience and dedication to capture your special day with professionalism and insight, without distractions. Also, one of the most important parts in making your wedding video enjoyable and unique, is the post-production. Hiring a professional allows your uncle to enjoy the festivities at your wedding, instead of being stuck behind a camera!

"I like your packages, but I want something a bit different."
The packages listed are just a starting point. Each package can be custom tailored to your wishes. There are no silly questions, and no request will be ignored. Each wedding is unique, and deserves due attention. During your initial consultation, you will have the opportunity to design your own videography package. We understand that weddings can be (and usually are) very expensive - we are willing to work with virtually any budget. Please contact us for any special requests.

"I just bought an HDTV, and I’m considering a High-Definition videography package for my wedding.”
HD, and more specifically, BluRay Disc authoring is still an evolving format. We’re proud to offer any of our packages in HD/BluRay format.
Please inquire about pricing and availability.

“What about travel? My wedding is out-of-town!”
We’re located in Los Angeles, California. Assuming your wedding location is within the greater Los Angeles area, there are no additional travel charges. However, Los Angeles is a BIG city! Outlying areas may be subject to fuel/travel surcharges. (Please inquire about your location, and we’ll be happy to let you know if you can expect additional charges, which are reasonable)

So you’re getting married out-of-state, or out of the country? Here at Frequent Flyer Productions, we have a pretty unique take on destination weddings. Here it is:
depending on the destination, we’ll shoot your wedding FOR FREE. Yes, you read that correctly - I said FREE!. The catch? Your destination has to be somewhere we’d like to travel, and you must provide travel accommodations! Curious if your destination qualifies? Contact Us, and we’ll let you know right away. Here’s a handy breakdown to give you an idea if your destination wedding will qualify for free videography services: (This is simply a humorous guide, and is for reference purposes only)

Wedding Date: Mid-December
Location: Central Nebraska
Verdict: You will not qualify for free videography services. Who wants to be in Nebraska in the winter? Not us...

Wedding Date: Mid-April
Location: Hawaii, Mexico, or any other tropical destination.
Verdict: Congratulations, you qualify for a free wedding video! A few days of sun and relaxation sounds like a good trade...

I think you’ll get the picture from the breakdown above. But always feel free to
contact us, and see if your destination qualifies. For those who do not qualify for “Free” destination-videography, we’re happy to travel just about anywhere in the world. Surcharges are minimal, and our travel/accommodation requirements are reasonable.

"What about booking and payment?"
Bookings are subject to availability, and are typically required at least 30 days prior to your event. A deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking. Without a deposit, we can't guarantee your wedding day will be secured! (Especially during the busy summer season.) The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to your wedding date.

"Do you take credit cards?"
Sorry, cash or check only.

“What if I have to cancel? Are there any fees?”
Yes, but they are very reasonable. Each package is different, but they’re usually less than $250. If you actually have to cancel your wedding, the last thing you should have to worry about are cancellation fees! However, if you have to reschedule your big day, cancellation fees do not apply, assuming you’re rescheduling within 1 year.

"What about the master tapes and media? Are they mine to keep?"
Always! It always surprises us that there are competitors out there who charge for your master tapes. We always use fresh tape-stock, and we only shoot on it once, so it’s always yours to keep, free of charge. Don’t forget to store your tapes in a cool, dry place, upright with the labels facing towards you. Believe me, it will really prolong their shelf life!
